I recently started drinking warm lemon water every morning and every night. I did this because I knew I needed to drink more water and hydrate but I don’t like the taste or rather the tastelessness of water so I added lemons because believe it or not I love the taste of lemon. I did a bit of research to make sure it was healthy to do this and was pleasantly surprised to find that doing this had many health benefits.
1. A Healthier Immune System
Lemon water helps to flush out toxins by enhancing enzyme function and stimulating the liver. Lemons are also high in vitamin C which help boost energy. Some even say it helps lighten your mood.
2. Radiant Skin
Removing toxins from the body definitely helps your skin but the antioxidants in lemons also aid in decreasing blemishes and wrinkles. When lemon juice is put directly on scars and age spots it also reduces their appearance.
3. Reduces inflammation
Lemon water dissolves Uric acid which reduces inflammation and joint pains.
4. Fresher Breath
Lemon water helps to relieve toothache and gingivitis giving you fresher breath. Disclaimer : too much of this can cause tooth erosion so make sure you rinse your mouth with water after this and brush your teeth soon after with a mild toothpaste.
5. Weight Loss
Lemon water helps to replenish the body after a workout. German researchers have also found that drinking water can increase metabolism. Pectin in lemons also gives the feeling of fullness and suppresses the appetite… Meaning we eat less bad stuff YAY!!
